Overview
Credit reports in Zillow Rental Manager are provided by Experian. When you request a credit report through Zillow as part of a rental application, it is a soft pull and does not affect your credit score.
Why is my credit report unavailable or missing a credit score?
There are a few reasons your credit report may be unavailable or may not show a credit score.
The most common reason is that there is not enough credit history on file to generate a score or report. This can happen if you have not opened a credit account yet, or if none of your accounts have been reported to Experian.
Another possible reason is that the information entered during identity verification does not match your records. If incorrect information is submitted during identity verification, your credit report may not generate properly.
In less common cases, there may be other issues with your credit file that prevent Experian from generating the report or score.
How can I try generating a new credit report?
Before reaching out for help, first check that the personal information you entered during identity verification is accurate and matches your records.
If your application has not been submitted yet, you may be able to generate new reports directly from your application.
To try again before submitting:
- Open your application from the Application Hub.
- In the Screening reports section, click Edit.
- Click Edit information to re-enter your information and generate new reports.
- If needed, you can also reopen the Identity Verification section and enter your information again before submitting.
If your application has already been submitted, it can no longer be edited directly. To make changes and generate a new report, you will need to withdraw the application and reapply.
To withdraw and reapply:
- Open your application from the Application Hub.
- Click Withdraw application.
- Return to the main Application Hub page and open the Archived section.
- Open the withdrawn application and click Reapply.
- Edit your information in the new application, then submit it again.
If you reapply within 30 days of your original purchase date, you will not be charged another application fee.
What if I do not see an option to edit the screening reports or identity verification?
If you do not see an option to edit the Screening reports or Identity Verification information, or if trying again does not let you generate a new credit report, there may be an issue with your Experian credit file that cannot be resolved through Zillow.
In that case, please contact Experian directly for help with your credit file. Zillow representatives do not have access to your personal credit-file information.
