The credit report included in the Zillow Application is generated by Experian. If you legally changed your name and your new name is not reflected on your credit report, there are steps you can take to get this corrected.
Check that you changed your name:
- With the Social Security Administration
- On your driver's license or other government ID
- On your passport, if you have one
Once these official changes are made, make sure every credit card company, bank and lender where you have an account knows your new name.
After the Social Security Administration and your creditors are made aware of your name change, your credit reports will automatically update to reflect your new name. Because each creditor has its own schedule for how frequently it reports to the credit bureaus, it may take a few months for all the accounts on your credit report to update.
If you are waiting for your name change to be updated on your credit report and need to move forward with the Zillow application, kindly note you will need to enter the name that is currently on your credit report in order to ID verify and generate your credit report. If you have questions or issues verifying yourself to generate the credit report, please contact us at rentalapplications@zillow.com.
If you have additional questions regarding the information on your credit report, please reach out to Experian directly for more information, as Zillow representatives do not have access to your personal information.
