For updates on your application status, you can reach out to the landlord or property manager who posted the rental listing. While Zillow hosts rental listings, we are not involved in the decision-making process since all agents, homeowners, and landlords manage their own rental properties independently.
If you are waiting to hear back from the landlord or property manager, here are a few steps you can take.
- Double-check that the application was completed and submitted. You will receive a payment confirmation email when you pay for your screening reports, but this does not necessarily mean that the application was shared with the landlord. Check your Renter Hub and make sure that you have completed the Agree and submit section of the application. You can access your Renter Hub here.
- Follow up with the landlord directly to ask for an update. There is contact information for the landlord at the top of the application you submitted. You can also use the contact box on the rental listing to contact the landlord.
Additionally, when viewing your application you can see when the landlord opens the application. Go to your Application Hub here. Then select your submitted application.
Still have not heard back after calling or emailing the landlord? You may want to continue your rental search while waiting to hear back on your application status. The Zillow application is portable, meaning that the $35 fee is a one-time fee and allows you to submit an application to as many participating landlords as you want for 30 days.
