Weekend Shopper
- Contains open houses and new listings.
- Sent every Friday for Zillow and Trulia.
-
Email based on consumer's saved searches.
- The email can only show so many results, so someone’s own open house may not show to them if their search criteria is too wide (ex: $200k-$2M).
- In an instance like this, the email will only show a randomized collection of all available results.
- Open houses are prioritized in these emails to show before new listings.
Saved Searches
-
Contains any new or updated listings to an existing search that the consumer created.
- Will only be sent to consumers who have subscribed for daily or instant search alerts.
-
Will show limited results.
-
If a saved search is too wide, not everything will show in the email.
- Ex: A saved search for sale listings in Seattle will not generate an email.
- Ex: A saved search for sale listings in Seattle, WA 98117 between $600k - $800k will generate an email.
- If there are many listings, only a set amount will show in the email based on an algorithm. consumers can click the See All Results link to view other listings.
-
If a saved search is too wide, not everything will show in the email.
- Email is queued overnight and sent early in the morning.
Daily Saved Search
- A consumer explicitly saves a search and opts for daily notification.
- An email is sent once per day with new listings or updates that match the consumer's saved search.
Instant Saved Search
- A consumer explicitly saves a search and opts for daily notification.
- An email as soon as new listings or updates come that match the consumer's saved search.
Inferred (Recommended) Search
-
Similar to a saved search but specific to a search Zillow creates for the consumer based on their site activity.
- Site activity is defined as when a logged-in consumer conducts a filtered search and clicks through to one resulting HDP. This causes an inferred search to be created and saved to their account.
-
Will show limited results
- If recent search activity is too wide not everything will show in the email.
- If there are many listings, only a select few will show in the email. Consumers can click the See All Results link to view other listings.
-
Example of how line shows:
- "1 Recommended Result - Your "Seattle WA' Search"
- Email is queued overnight and sent early morning
- Inferred searches do not create a search in the Saved Search section
Saved Home
This is a one-time email sent out when a home is saved.
Property Alerts on Saved Homes
These are alerts sent out to consumers who have saved homes, and can be sent out for price changes of $1000 or more, status changes, or open houses being scheduled.
Property Alert
- Sent to consumers when there are status changes for any saved homes.
-
Types of status changes:
-
Change in price: Only triggers if a change is made within the same listing feed source.
- Ex: Agent states listing from broker feed shows the wrong price at $550k. Agent says the new price should be $525k, which does show in the MLS feed. If the listing is torn down, the broker feed blocked and the MLS feed refreshed with the new $525k price this will not trigger the email alert.
- Change in status.
- Added as a new For Sale.
-
Added Open House:
- If the open house edit was made before the email queued, then this change may not make the email cut.
- If it is an early open house, the emails can take some time to run so it may be sent close to the time of the open house.
-
Change in price: Only triggers if a change is made within the same listing feed source.
Market Report

- Does not trigger automatically. It is set up based on when the home or search was saved in that zip code.
- Email is sent about once a month.
